In your role you often have to give difficult news, get a final decision on a contentious subject or convey complex information. Past experiences have shown you that people don't understand why it matters or don't want to hear. It's seems like it's one step back for every two steps forward.
Sometimes you just need someone with no vested interest to pick over the challenges. I have worked with many senior finance and operations leaders to help them bring people along with the decisions, projects and changes you see are needed.
